  2. This mantra evokes the living God, asking protection and freedom from all sorrow and suffering. It is a prayer that adores the great creator and liberator, who out of love and compassion manifests, to protect us, in an earthly form.
  3. After all, the whole point of mantra is transcendence, going higher than the mundane, talky-talk plane. However, I don't mind it at all on this Gayatri CD. Rattan Sharma's remarks are brief and to the point--and only occur at the beginning. The rest of the CD explores various musical interpretations of the chant.
