  1. Nov 11,  · Pearl Jam's debut album, Ten, established them in the public mind as an ennui-laden powerhouse of a hard rock band. Yet while Eddie Vedder sings with an arena rock vocalist's sense of reach, he just as easily can sit himself in a corner to mourn in quiet. Lost Dogs is much more fun than the band’s proper studio albums. It has no need to.
  2. You can perhaps find no better evidence of than Pearl Jam’s collection of B-sides and rarities, aptly titled Lost Dogs. This dual-disc compilation contains everything from studio album outtakes, to fan club single tracks, and even a hidden tribute to the late Alice In Chains front man, Layne Staley.
  3. Really solid quality vinyl rendering and some INCREDIBLY cool packaging! Some live 1st, some alternates, and some rarities on this set and a welcome addition to any Pearl Jam fan! If you know a PJ fan who is looking for some great vinyl, this is a nice one to get. Pearl Jam always sounds great live and this 2 disc LP is no exception/5(42).
  4. Drifting, drifting, drifting away. I got myself a mansion, then I gave it away. It's not the world that's heavy, just the things that you save. And I'm drifting, drifting away. Drifting, drifting, drifting along. I rid myself of worries, and the worries were gone. I only run when I want to and I sleep like a dog. I'm just drifting, drifting along.
  5. General CommentI have heard 2 versions of this song: the original from the Christmas single (entitled Driftin'), and recently the one found on Lost Dogs (called Drifting).I have to say that the original is much better. They are essentially the same song, but the original is just so much more relaxed, and the worst part is the lack of "damn" in the "they get so damn excited" part.
  6. “Down” – Lost Dogs (Disc 1) In , Pearl Jam fans finally got their long-awaited collection of B-sides and rarities, and thank God we did. Otherwise, we may have been deprived of this Riot Act cast off. Simply stated, this is Pearl Jam at their absolute best, an upbeat, guitar-driven jam that so many other bands would kill to record.
  7. More than any other album in its catalog, Lost Dogs captures what Pearl Jam stood for and what it felt like at their peak. It may not have any of their defining songs -- apart from concert favorite "Yellow Ledbetter," that is -- but it does define their spirit, which is why, against all odds, it's the best album Pearl Jam has yet released.
